Covers

Covers is a virtual bookshelf designed to help me manage my personal book collection. It brings together the books I own, the books I want, and the value of my collection in one place. Rather than solely cataloguing titles, Covers gives me a more complete picture of my collection and how it evolves over time.

Owned books are displayed in a visual grid, bookshelf-like. As the collection grows, I can search and sort by date added, publication date, title or value, making it easy to browse my collection.

Adding new books is straightforward: enter the ISBN and a search is automatically performed for the book's details. If I'm out and about, I can take a quick photo of the barcode and it handles the rest, making it easy to catalogue new acquisitions or add to my wishlist.

Each book has its own tracked market value, with the latest average prices fetched from different storefronts online. At a collection-wide level, a global value tracker visualises changes over time, offering a way to follow the financial side of collecting books. It’s a simple way to see how individual titles and new acquisitions contribute to the overall value of my library.

The wishlist works much the same, providing a dedicated space to keep track of books I’m looking for. Notifications alert me to a price drop or a rare book being listed online.

When I’m ready to make a purchase, I can search across multiple stores to find available listings, making it easier to go from discovering a book to finding somewhere to buy it.

Ultimately, Covers brings the different parts of collecting together in one place: a library for the books I own, a tracker for what they’re worth, and a wishlist for what I’d like to find next.
